His Stone Collection

     Matthew Greenwall was a talented software programmer who liked to fish, swim, and read fiction in his spare time. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Fallmont where he could catch bass, mackerel, and salmon. When he fished, he used a bait made of seaweed. This allowed him to catch fish in a quick and timely manner. Matthew Greenwall swam in the swimming pool in his apartment complex, because he thought it would make him more muscular and thin. He enjoyed swimming because it was fun and free. In his spare time, Matthew liked to read about mysteries, comedies, and tragedies. He liked to read because it gave him a sense of inner peace and happiness. Matthew enjoyed his hobbies because they were fun and free. 

     During work, Matthew programmed a variety of computer programs and overall he found the job to be repetitive and monotonous, if not also soothing. Matthew earned quite a living working as a software programmer because he had a lot of experience and did his job well. Matthew enjoyed being alone in his cubicle programming and designing new software. Although it was in a way boring, it was a great job for Matthew because he loved to be creative and work hard. It was enjoyable to him. 

     One day, when Matthew went to a small store near the electronics center in the middle of town, he found a spherical stone made of granite that was beautiful and carefully designed. It was lime green and was situated on top of a wooden holder. The spherical stone he looked at costed around one hundred dollars and was exceptional for its size. It was quite large and on sale. Matthew just knew he had to buy it. He went to the store owner and said, “Can I have the granite sphere for one hundred dollars?” The store owner replied, “Yes, but you must pay first.” Matthew paid the store owner one hundred dollars and got the spherical ball of granite. He went outside with the spherical ball of granite and said to himself, “I think it’s time to start a stone collection.” When he entered home, he looked at the betta fish in the small glass jar and was happy that it looked okay. He got the granite stone ball and placed it on top of his computer desk next to the computer and was so excited to be able to start a stone collection. The granite sphere looked beautiful in the sunlight that filled his room. He was ecstatic to find new stones for keeping. Matthew was happy because he had a new hobby and it was going to be a journey turning his hobby into something more serious, like stone identifying. He was on his way for a new journey in time.
