WinterA Story by BlueShadowWinter Charlie Mason had just come from school to enjoy the winter break. Charlie Mason was exceptionally good at school and was placed in the advanced version of many of its classes. Charlie Mason enjoyed literature the most because to him it was like time-traveling and he got to go on a passport to go anywhere, anytime, and any place. Literature class was very enjoyable to him. He liked being able to go to foreign places in different times. However, as much as Charlie liked class, he much rather preferred to be at home in his room reading a book and then going to bed. School was fun, but reading was more fun. He thought the free time he had was very precious and very hard to find. Reading was very enjoyable to him. He loved reading about dragons, mythology, spells, and foreign people. It was so fun to him to be able to go on a free ride to all these different places. However, there was one thing he wanted to see in real life that he read about in books. He wanted to see snow. Charlie Mason was a very gifted reader and read much about snow, winter, and sledding in his books. Something about snow intrigued him, whether it be the color of the snow, the texture, the shape of the snowflakes, or the way it fell down from the sky in slow-motion, as his books said. He was excited to see what winter would be like this year. The town he lived in, Summerset, Alabama, rarely got snow, so for it to get snow at all was quite a sight to see. Charlie was eager to see the snow and how beautiful it was. He loved being able to see the snow and be amazed by its characteristics. Hopefully this year, there would be snow. On day four of winter break, Charlie woke up with an unusual feeling of happiness in his stomach. He felt excited for no reason. He wasn’t sure why he felt this, but he decided to check the window out in his room. He adjusted the blinds and saw lots of snow falling gently down to the ground. He was so excited to see snow for the first time in his whole life because he never thought there would be snow in his life. So, he went to his wardrobe and wore a hat, gloves, thick jacket, and thick pants to be able to go outside and enjoy the snow. It was going to be interesting, to say the least. Charlie went outside the front door and saw the snow falling like each snowflake had a parachute attached to it to prevent the snowflake from crashing down. Charlie was extremely happy to be able to see snow in real life. He was so proud of himself for being able to brave the cold weather and see the snowflakes falling down like feathers. The snowflakes were extremely beautiful and looked like a carver had carefully made each one individually, unique, and carefully. Charlie was stunned by how his backyard which was a forest made of brown and green trees, suddenly turned into a white, frosted wonderland. Charlie was so excited to be able to go in the forest and see nothing but white. It was very chilly, yet very beautiful. The forest was extremely intriguing to Charlie. He absolutely loved the forest. It was now completely white. His dream of seeing snow, feeling the winter weather, and breathing the cold air, came true. Charlie thought this winter break was exceptionally special. © 2021 BlueShadow |
