The Oasis of GreenA Story by BlueShadowIt’s a hot, sweltering June evening and I am going down the freeway in the opposite direction of twenty cars going at sixty miles per hour or above. They are impervious to my existence and speed down not noticing there’s a lone man walking down the highway. I see and smell the cars driving past me as I walk and walk and walk. The cars going down the highway are going on their own business uninterested in my personal escapade. The sun shines down the Earth and I notice that the birds, the air, and even the ground seem to look like they’re melting. The June sun spares no one and I feel its unrelenting energy, too. The air feels muggy and uncomfortable, the ground hot and unbendable. I feel glad knowing that soon I will arrive at my destination. It’ll only take some time, energy, and effort to get there. Yesterday, in my private jet plane, I flew over Upville and looked down and saw a large field full of flowers and an endless sea of grass. I thought it was a beautiful sight to see because most of the landscape when I looked down were trees which looked like broccoli. Upville was beautiful, with lakes, shops, and restaurants scattered throughout in the middle of trees. Upville was well-known for its kind people, and I enjoyed living there. The oasis of green is the place I’m trudging to right now. I love the color green and am intrigued by its mesmerizing and picturesque beauty, like an emerald or jade. I want to go there right now because I thought looking at it from the plane above made me acknowledge its stunning beauty. I was determined to go there no matter how difficult the journey was. I walk a few more miles and the sun looks like it’s about to set. I reach the field and see its stunning magnificence up close. It’s surrounded by trees; oak, willow, and pine. The field has tulips, roses, and daises. I’m marveled by its scent and relaxing presence. The field is gorgeous. I step on the field and immediately feel happier. I feel a calm I’ve never experienced before and the field makes me feel so happy, free, and strong. The field is relatively flat and makes it even more beautiful. Being in the midst of all the greenery makes me feel wonderful and joyous. I love the field and its unique and charismatic nature. As the sun starts to set, I go back home and feel happier that I was able to trudge on the field that I saw from the airplane above. I feel healthier since I was able to breathe in its clean, crisp air. The field is stunning for its picturesque nature and perfect location in the midst of trees. I am grateful to have been in the field and am honored I was able to be in its empowering presence.
