Manny Skayton’s Favorite ColorA Story by BlueShadowManny Skayton loved going to Color Emporium, which was an art supply center in Reading, Indiana. This store had tons of art supplies, such as markers, crayons, paper, colored paper, pens, brushes, ink, and so on. Color Emporium was Manny’s favorite shopping center because in addition to skating and playing the guitar, Manny loved to draw. He loved to draw art because he thought art was a good way to express yourself. Art was also creative, something Manny admired. One day, Manny wanted to draw a pumpkin scene, basically many pumpkins on a table. Manny loved drawing and he loved fall, so his favorite color was orange. To him, orange meant the sun, pumpkins, Halloween, fall, oranges, and pumpkin pie. Manny loved the color orange because of its pleasant, delicate, and subtle warmth. He loved it more than blue or green because he thought the color made him stand out. Manny loved to draw and paint, so he decided that he was going to draw a pumpkin scene which was basically a table of pumpkins. It was August 2nd and Manny decided it was time to draw. He asked his mom if she could take him to Color Emporium. His mom looked at him with interest and said, “Why?”. Manny replied he wanted to go because he would draw something involving the color orange. She nodded and drove him there where he got some orange paint and a medium-sized canvas. The paint was a high-quality oil paint and could color anything well enough to the point it looked natural and real. Manny got the paint and canvas and went to his room to begin the work. Manny got out his oil paint and started to draw carefully, slowly at first, then sped up and drew a scene of ten pumpkins on a table. The ten pumpkins were beautiful and identical to one another and were realistic in terms of appearance. He thought his painting signified fall, because he associated pumpkins with Thanksgiving. Manny was pleased with his drawing and went to the living room and sat on the sofa. Manny was so pleased with his painting because of how beautiful, carefully-drawn, and realistic it looked. He admired his art. He felt like he accomplished something worthwhile, detailed, and wonderful. Plus, he had some paint of his favorite color, orange. © 2021 BlueShadow |
