Manny Skayton Finds A Job

     Manny Skayton graduated high school in June. He was eighteen years old at the time and was proud of his accomplishment and framed diploma. He loved his being a high school graduate because to him it meant that he had worked hard and earned the degree he deserved. His high school diploma was beautiful and framed in a wooden holder. He loved his diploma because of its importance in that it signified his graduation and love of learning. It was now time to find a job.

     June was hot, humid, and muggy. The weather was extremely hot with the sun large, energetic, and radiant. People wore sunscreen heavily when swimming, wore their sunglasses proudly, and drank lots of cold water. It was definitely the summer. June was like an oven. Nobody escaped the sun’s all-encompassing rays. Manny thought it was time to find a job since he wanted to become independent from his parents one day. So, he looked and looked and found a job as a cashier at Storica, a grocery store in the center of Reading. He admired the workers there for their diligence and perfect punctuality and thought it would be good if he worked there and knew what it was like to work there.

     Manny got a job there after applying six times over a period of one month and became a full-time cashier at Storica. The store itself was a large supermarket of many aisles but Manny was astonished by how organized and orderly and clean the store was. Manny was a cashier on aisle three and respectfully greeted every customer who came there. He bagged many people’s groceries and politely acknowledged when they left. He also became better at math since he constantly had to become more adept at working with numbers. Manny loved working at Storica. There was lots to do and lots to learn. 

     Manny worked there for two years until at the age of twenty he decided to leave. Working there was exhausting after all this time and in addition he found some of the customers to be rude. But still, he had accumulated ten-thousand dollars in his back account making him more wealthy than before. Storica was an excellent experience for Manny. He was astonished at how dutifully he had worked and how punctual he was to work every day. He now knew more about working and real life in general. He was so proud of himself and his keeping his promise. His twenties were going to be full of excitement.
