Smoke

Smoke

A Poem by BlueShadow

In the freezing cold

We find something to see

We do as we’re told

And we see the bright red chimney

The snow covers everything

From trees to bushes and rooftops

We’re not sure if there’s anything

Other than snow covered mountaintops

The chimney emits black billowing smoke

It smells like barbecue

And from slight slumber we awoke

The smoke covers the view

Of our scene of the countryside

We forget what it means

To be alone and want to hide

The smoke billows and beams

The smoke contrasts with the white snow

It’s black and puffy with dark tendrils

The chimney finally slows

And the smoke stops still
