Glacier County National Park

Glacier County National Park

A Story by BlueShadow

Alex Morrison was a tall thirteen-year-old boy who loved to hike in Glacier County National Park. He was well liked by students and teachers at his middle school, St. Augustine Middle School. He enjoyed reading, hiking, playing soccer, and science. He was kind, understanding, charming, and sympathetic to other people’s worries and problems. His life was pleasant. Samantha Robbins was a tall fourteen-year-old middle schooler at Alex’s same school and also loved to read, hike, and do experiments. Alex and Samantha were best friends and loved talking to each other on the phone, sitting next to each other in lunch, and going to each other’s houses for fun. They were best friends and little, if anything could change that. Alex and Samantha made a good partnership and were great at being friends, which basically meant having fun.

Alex and Samantha were one day hiking with the permission of their parents in Glacier County National Park when they spotted a puma far off in the distance, but coming their way. Alex and Samantha knew they were in trouble so they went back in the opposite direction and went to the base of the mountain where there were stores, restaurants, and light. It was dark outside and cold so they went to this one restaurant called “Mountain Eatery”, which sold hamburgers, fries, soda, and onion rings for a good price. They ate there with eagerness and stuffed themselves. Alex looked across the table and right at Samantha’s face. She was still eating but noticed Alex’s stare. She said, “What?” Alex replied, “That puma was huge! Hopefully it’s gone by now and we’ll be able to hike again soon.” Samantha nodded in agreement and finished her burger. “Let’s go back on the trail in fifteen minutes.”, she said. Alex agreed and said, “Yeah. That puma’s probably gone by now.” Samantha and Alex finished eating and headed back outdoors.

They started hiking again on a trail called “Blue Trail” and continued up the mountain for hours and hours. They went past trees, rocks, and owls, until they finally reached the top. They saw the moon and its lime green light lighting up the darkness of the night. Samantha and Alex went back down the mountain hurriedly and were stunned to know from a stranger at the bottom that it was already ten o’clock. Alex and Samantha went back home where they slept and had a good night’s sleep. They felt better about their days and friendship and felt good about their experience on the mountain.
