Southlake High SchoolA Story by BlueShadowSouthlake High School was well known for its academics, sports, and arts. Southlake High School was located in Southlake, Missouri and had an enrollment of about two thousand children. Southlake High School was a wonderful school and was well known for its tuition, athletics, and music program. Southlake High was a great school which had modern technology, good teachers, and a wonderful architecture that made learning fun and enjoyable. The students who attended Southlake High School were kids who liked to learn a lot and take tests and ace them. Southlake High was amazing for its diversity, beauty, and extraordinary faculty who loved their jobs and pay. Southlake High School was a great place to work whether you were a janitor, a science teacher, or the principal. Southlake High School was wonderful for its amazing hallways which were artistically colored and its classrooms which were beautifully decorated. Southlake High School had something for everyone. Janice Leopards, a seventh grader at Southlake High School, was walking slowly to science class taught by Mr. Stevens when suddenly someone poked her from behind. Surprised, she turned around and saw that it was her friend Ellis Ginsley. Ellis had been her friend since she was young in elementary school and was well known for making other people including Janice feel good about themselves. Ellis always had something positive or interesting to say. Ellis told Janice, “Did you hear about the orchestra audition? It’s this week!” Janice remembered that orchestra auditions were this Thursday in the recital hall and it would be a long day preparing for the audition. Janice replied, “I totally forgot. I’m gonna practice my cello when I get home. See you later!” The two girls parted and Janice felt so good about her life and went home with a smile after school ended. Janice couldn’t wait to partake in the orchestra audition and was excited about her future. Janice was extremely happy about her life and about school in general. Ellis was a violinist and was going to be so excited being in orchestra with her friend Janice. Janice and Ellis were going to be in orchestra together if Janice and Ellis made the cut. They were both exuberant about their chances of winning. Janice and Ellis were extremely happy to make it into orchestra and make their parents proud. Janice went to her home, took a shower, went to bed, and slept. She was a talented cellist and made hr cello sing like birds and made the tone soar like a human voice. Janice was super excited about this Thursday. It was definitely going to be interesting and memorable. She wondered if she’d make the cut or not. It was up to her. Janice wondered if her cello skills were up to par with other students at Southlake High and wondered if she was as good at cello as her parents told her she was. She was unsure. Janice hoped that the audition would go well enough to the point where she would get into the orchestra. Thursday came and soon Janice was in the line waiting for the audition to the orchestra entrance. Janice soothed to play a Mozart piece and she played it perfectly. Janice felt extremely happy about how she had played and then was going home after a long school day. She couldn't wait if she had made it or not, and it was up to the orchestra director, Mr. Longview, whether or not she made it. She saw that she had made it on Monday morning and was happy beyond belief. She had successfully made it into the orchestra class and would soon be playing cello alongside her classmates. She started playing cello very well and loved to harmonize with other students. The sound of her playing was extraordinarily beautiful and it was quite a sight and a sound to her one hundred kids playing viola, violin, cello, and bass in perfect unison. Janice felt so lucky to be able to play her instrument so well and was happy to play music perfectly in tune and on spot. Janice went home after her first orchestra concert and felt elated. She got a book, opened it, and read it from cover to cover. It was about a guide to listening to the most beautiful recordings of the Mozart Symphonies and was exquisite because of its detail, beauty, conciseness, and wonderful book paper quality. Janice was so excited to be able to play cello well and felt like it was her duty to be able to make others feel happy when she heard her playing. Janice was extremely happy because of the progress she made in such little time and was intrigued by the numerous books on music in her bedroom as well as her school’s library. Janice thought she needed drink of water and went to the water fountain to get some. Janice said to her friend, Ellis, “Do you think we’ll have a quiz in geometry? I hope not.” Ellis replied, “I don’t think so. Our math teacher didn’t say we’d have anything.” Both of them dreaded geometry, an amazingly difficult class with lots to learn and memorize and little time to digest it all. Geometry was both of their least favorite classes. Ellis and Janice both thought their classes were overall quite manageable and would take time to getting used to but geometry was an exception. All the shapes and formulas they had to learn about was astoundingly confusing to learn and both of them dreaded math. They’d rather have lunch together and be happy being friends and talking. Lunch came and soon they were eating hot dogs, chocolate milk, and grits for lunch. Ellis and Janice devoured both of their meals quite quickly and felt extremely happy about their lives and about school in general. Janice and Ellis were good friends because of their love for school, food, and people. They knew their friendship would continue beyond orchestra and after school ended. They were such happy campers. © 2021 BlueShadow |
