Lightning and Sun

Lightning and Sun

A Story by BlueShadow

Rain falling pattering on the rooftops

Lightning flashing and lighting up the sky

I lay in my bed with my blanket over my body

Making me feel safe and sound and right

The wind howls during the night

My pets begin to feel fright

Looking out the window, it’s quite a sight

Hoping to see the end and the bright light

The storm starts to ease and wane

No more raindrops battering my windowpane

The love in my life begins to come back

I feel happier now that the sun shines back

Sentimentally, I feel sad that the darkness is gone

Something precious was present during the storm

Outside, my life looks better based on my lawn

Everything returns to its original form

I enjoyed reading this poem. Though I must admit I love the frenzied ecstacy of a raging storm. The scent of nature's damp emotion filled tears. There is an anger and sorrow to them that leaves the heart in awe. We as human beings never feel more insignificant in this world than standing before the wrath of nature. She reminds us of our ephemeral existence and that we should treasure the precious moments we have been given. Thank you for sharing your poem.
