Candlelight

Candlelight

A Poem by BlueShadow

Candlelight

Sitting down at the dinner table, hands clasped over the tabletop

I sit and remember my life with vivid imagination, thinking heavily

I feel worried, sad, alone, confused, dazed, and tired, all at once

I wonder why I don’t know how to deal with these emotions

All I’ve got is a candle and a flame that lights up my dark room

I ponder my life’s past, thinking about the events that have shaped it

I hope for a good future, one with lots of success and fruit

The candlelight flickers and wavers, its shadow on the wall huge

The candle smells of cinnamon, apple, and spice, all at once

I love being in the room with the candle, giving me rest and solitude

The candle flickers out, and here I am again, alone, in the dark.
