Exploring the Cosmos

Exploring the Cosmos

A Poem by BlueShadow

Exploring the Cosmos

The spaceship is ready, all set to launch

Inside I feel a mix of eagerness and worry

5…4…3…2…1…! Blast off!

We fly high into the air, please no sorries

The Earth looks interesting up here

With seas of blue and mountains of black

The captain’s having no problems to steer

We prepared for this trip, so we have nothing to lack

We see Venus, a ball of red and yellow

There’s Jupiter, a huge sphere of no tomorrow

The spaceship reaches Pluto

The lonely little dwarf

Its distance from Earth makes us wonder if it needs a scarf

It’s so cold out here, the solar system's gone

We’re into the edges of our galaxy

Stunned, we wonder, how many stars will we see?

Going off into the distant edges

The Milky Way seems less dense

Fewer stars, fewer comets, fewer asteroids

Just bodies of rock immense
