Night's Stillness

Night's Stillness

A Poem by BlueShadow

The Night’s Silence

The night sky is as black as ebony

The moon is the only thing shining

The birds sing, the river flows, and the pleasant trees

Make it seem like a dream about flying

I love the night and its omniscient viewpoint

It’s seen everything, knows everything, can do anything

It’s like an array of colors coming together at a meeting point

Something breaks the quiet, a loud ding

A woman comes out of her house with something to sing

With reservation she sings something beautiful

But with effort, she sounds extraordinary, like a king

The night’s silence is broken

An aura of stillness, calm, and quiet

Is destroyed by a symphony of sound riots

Her singing makes the trees happy

The sun comes up to feel good

Suddenly the light chases the night away

And everything becomes understood

The houses can be seen again

With clarity and focus

Each one like a sparkling gem

Astounding and with hocus-pocus

The sun glimmers with beauty and comfort

Providing love, hope, and protection for those

Who need something more than words

Like a batch of chocolate chip cookies from a stove

The night comes again and darkness covers the landscape

And to me it resembles someone’s aura of hate
