The Birds

The Birds

A Poem by BlueShadow

The Birds

Beautiful, chirping, flying, free

The birds fly with an air of glee

They stoop from sticks and their chicks

Ask for food, water, and worm licks

The birds see the food their chicks ate

And scour the ground for more before it’s too late

The birds fly on top of the roof of the shop

And never, ever stop

Soaring, high above the ground in the sky

The birds for the most coveted position vie

The one at the front of their V formation

Is the one who will be leader without hesitation

The birds finally land on the ground scampering

Looking for sticks to add to their nest hiding

High in the willow tree

For the birds there’s no fee

The birds love their lives and fly

Until the seas, oceans, and lakes turn dry
