Amy Lee Makes Kimchi

Amy lived in Busan, South Korea and loved the climate there. The weather was never too hot or cold, and the wind felt so good on your face. The beach was exceptionally beautiful with beautiful beige sand, roaring waters, and seagulls that flew and made their calls. Amy loved Busan because it was a wonderful city in South Korea that existed at the southeastern end of the country. Amy Lee loved Korea and its beautiful culture, wonderful heritage, and kind people. Amy was in love with her country.

One day, Amy’s mom, Jee-In, asked her if she wanted to go to Incheon, a port city in South Korea. Amy wasn’t sure because Incheon was located two hundred miles northwest of Busan and was very different in terms of the dialect of Korean spoken there. Jee-In was a wonderful mother and knew how to make Amy feel good about herself and about life in Korea. Busan was Amy’s home, and also the home of her mother, Jee-In. Traveling to Incheon would be interesting, they both thought.

They decided to board the KTX on Sunday and went high speed on a train that made them reach Incheon within three hours. Amy and Jee-In got off the train and felt extraordinarily happy about being in such a different city full of life, optimism, and promise. They were going to learn how to make kimchi together, a Korean delicacy.

They went to a small farm in the rural area of Incheon and talked with an elderly woman about making kimchi. Both of them felt so happy about making kimchi because they always ate it with rice and every meal, so learning how to make it themselves would be much more interesting. Jee-In and Amy learned how to make kimchi after a few days of spices, lettuce, hot peppers, and fermentation. The kimchi turned out wonderfully and Amy was so happy that she and her mother learned successfully in Incheon how to make something super delicious and wonderful. Amy and Jee-In were extremely proud of themselves and learning how to make a rather difficult Korean dish. They were so happy about their lives.
