Humility

Humility

A Chapter by BlueShadow

Being humble means acknowledging your own faults and flaws and understanding that others have flaws, too. Being humble is quite difficult to do because ordinarily people are full of pride by nature and overcoming that natural state of arrogance requires lots of determination and effort. However, if you are able to overcome being arrogant and selfish you will gain an understanding of why being humble is a good thing to be. Being humble means knowing that you are flawed and that is perfectly normal. Humility is a virtue which I strive to achieve because being humble is something that I very much enjoy. When I was younger, I didn’t really understand why people stressed humility so often in church but now I understand. The reason why humility is often called the virtue of all virtues is because it can open our minds and eyes to things we didn’t take into consideration before. I think being humble requires a lot of patience, but over time, it will become something that is natural to you and something that you enjoy being. Humility is very important to me and to many philosophies and religions because it requires a lot of self-discipline. Humility is so important to many because many think it is important to love yourself and others, too.

Humility is a virtue that can be used in school, home, or at work, which will enable you to like who you are around with more. If you are arrogant, you may find that others are more annoying than they really are. Being humble allows you to understand that life is full of surprises and that not everything goes as planned. Humility is something that many of us can achieve but many of us have difficulty doing. Humility is something that I work on every day so that I can improve myself as a person and work on my flaws, too. I want to be humble so that others can see that I try to be a good person and that I value humility in others. Pride blinds us to the truth and being arrogant can lead to disastrous consequences. Pride is like a poison that makes us blind to what reality really is.

In conclusion, humility and pride are opposites which unfortunately many people have chosen pride. Humility and pride are two contrasting things which make us realize that being humble leads to us seeing people and things for what they are, and seeing pride for the lies it tells us. I hope that I convinced you that pride is like a darkness that clouds our minds from seeing the true nature of things, and that humility is a light that shines over what we see.
