Bartok Quartet 4

Bartok Quartet 4

A Poem by BlueShadow

The first movement screams dissonance
Chords of unusual distance and interesting tones
It goes by so quickly each and every note
The first movement is remarkable for its originality

The second movement has interesting rhythm
With beautiful notes and an interesting melody
It closes the large and nearly indefinite chasm
And acts as a soul-centered remedy

The third movement is slow and graceful
With a slow and soothing harmony
It's not particularly difficult
But is very much like a wonderful reverie

I love the fourth movement and its plucking strings
The notes are remarkable for their ringing nature
Pizzicato is the fourth movement’s entire theme
The fourth movement is wonderful and beautiful

The fifth movement starts with clangor
It sounds so much like thrashing
Modern music at its finest and most beautiful
Bartok is wonderful for its originality and intricacy

I had a moment of patriotic pride while reading this, since Bartok was Hungarian. "Thrashing, originality, and intricacy" are words that, I think, describe much of the Hungarian national character.
