The Writer

With the keyboard and computer at his hand

The writer knows exactly what to type

Ideas and pictures form in his head

Because there are so many things he likes

Languages, phrases, words, and letters

Are second-nature to his buzzing brain

He loves conjuring up new things and places

Because writing them keeps his mind sane

Writers love the written word more than anyone

Loving a story’s beautiful setting and sound

People enjoy reading them and having a blast

Understanding an author’s ground

Page after page I write and write

Filled with limitless joy and happiness

I paint the blank page with my imagination

Expansive, unbounded, and very loud

I as a writer love the sight, smell, and feel of a good book

Very few things in the world can compare

When I write I love the words coming alive

I don’t mind the questioning stares
