A Language's Soul

A Language's Soul

A Story by BlueShadow

If you can say anything in one language in another, why bother learning a new language? There is technically and mathematically no reason learning Spanish if you already know English as you can say anything in the other. However, when you completely learn a new language, you breathe in the “soul” of the new language and feel its magical, mystical, and mysterious ways flow into your consciousness and feel the love and joy that it provides. The soul of a language is like the essence of a language, something nonphysical and beyond mathematics. The soul of a language is like its spirit, aura, and flame. I love learning about new languages because even though I already know English fluently, learning Spanish, Latin, Korean, and other languages makes my brain better and also improves my ability with any one of those languages. A language has a soul, something that is greater than the sum of its parts. A language’s soul is like its life essence.
