Sweet Irony

Sweet Irony

A Poem by Jacques - iNkwire

Sometimes I'm embarrassed
because I insist on Something Stupid
Almost like I can't help it
whether it is saying or doing
I just like seeing your smile
as if it's some sort of treat
and even now our banter
fills my lungs with heat
I will admit I wonder
if it's a heat I'm allowed
In order to protect myself
I make my own clouds
You don't rain on my parade,
but I water my own doubts
Perhaps you don't notice
'cause you bring the sun out
At least I get to see you now
though you live so far
sometimes irony is sweet
since we're less apart

A tender poem about wanting someone more than you feel you’re “allowed.” The sun and cloud imagery captures that mix of warmth and doubt so well. Really lovely.

About
Hi. Most of my work is poetry, but I intend to put some stories out in the future. I write about what makes me feel strongly. This approach mostly results in romantic pieces, but I hope to branch o.. more..
