Holding you first time in my arms, I felt like I was holding myself

Saw my reflection in your little eyes as if I was just living in there 

This world was always a darker place until I saw my light in you 

This heart had always been restless but It found it's peace in you 

I wanted to be your superhero and your source of pride

I wanted to be your bests of mate that you never had

But Now I am gone, far away

You don't know son, I wanted to stay 

And now it's late, to make amends

A very moving piece here. The speaker is apparently a father who for unspecified reasons is no longer a part of his son's life. There is pain here, and regret, and the speaker's only consolation is that he will live on in the person of the son. Not a lot of comfort there, but it seems it is all that is available at this time.
