Life, As We Know It

Life is probably like a book,

Made up of chapters

Each chapter that comes by,

Is meant to be learnt,

Meant to be understood

Some chapters also need re-reading,

While some chapters stay unchanged forever

Some words from the chapters

Leave a scar on us,

While some words heal us

Every chapter need to be relived

Because one can’t simply draw it out forever

OR

Life is probably just a metaphor

Loved this one Shadowine. This poem reminds me of the concept of the book of life but it brought up an aspect witch I had not thought of while writing my poem on this concept. It was that we have to revisit past chapters of our life as you said, in order for us to learn from our past. One thing I was expecting after you said "while some chapters stay unchanged forever" was a line on the concept of burning ones bridges or in this case we may sometimes have to tear out a page of our book of life. Thanks for the read request! This poem broadened my view on life. That is all I could ever hope to gain and you've done that here in the best way possible.

Even I have pondered over the juxtaposition of an idea behind a book with the idea behind a life. The articulation of the idea here is wonderful. It is important to understand that like a book, even life has only limited number of pages. It could be a larger number or a very short number, but a limited number of pages.

And yes, some words do heal us while others leave a scar, which is the same case while reading a truely beautifully written book as well.
I didnt understand the 'OR' in the final line though...

The above lines are logical and life is chapters. We will become many people in a long life. Different places to live, new job and birth of children. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Good idea! One thing is certain is that life comes at us without much warning, all we can do is use our 'experience' to react in the best way we can. We can't go back and change it but I suppose your analogy of the book shows how we can go back and make sense of what has happened. I'm not too sure about your last line - what would it be a metaphor for?

wow, what a thought...life is just a metaphor...so all of us, and all we do in life is just figurative and stands for something and someone else.
