Shadow Tea

Shadow Tea

A Poem by icelandicblue

Tea was on the tepid side
as was the conversation;
barely a crack in the
skim-coat of pancake makeup.

Moth balls and sighs filled
the void between sips by
smoke-ringed lips, each
waiting for the other to add the
first spark of awareness.

Their unused hearts were unaccustomed
to the normal rhythms of living.
They have become bystanders
reflected in the bakery window,
staring at their own demise.

Gazing back on the grey clouds that found their way into our hopes and dreams. Very nice my friend. This one spoke volumes to me.

Sometimes maybe, usually not.
Outstanding read blue, standing ovation for this one...lovely twist with the tepid tea and unused hearts. Noncommittal speaks volumes in this one, a life hardly aware, would you like a bit of indifference with you tea today? Really enjoyed this one, with a cuppa of coffee instead. Sounds like my marriage to my ex actually!
