from ‘The Placebo Effect’

 

The more I enjoy famous festival films

the more I reflect on

how many vers libres I could have written

for time that’s been spent.

But the more I turn over the choice in my mind

the closer I come to conclusion

that it’s so much better to see

a couple of glorious movies

than make up a dozen of gimpy free verses.

. i learnt a new word -- "gimpy" -- it means crippled ... i'll have to think about this post ... i can't somehow imagine crippled poetry just yet ... also, i happen to be a fan of "glorious" cinema and often see a poetic film and feel it is as enriching an experience as reading exquisite poetry ...

i agree. sometimes it's better to get out, take a break from writing and just go see a film. you might even gather some inspiration there.

I disagree, hehe! Literature is way better than film, unless maybe producing would be more fun than authorship :)
