Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash

There's a picture on the night stand

Could it be some old flame

or is it the picture that came in the frame

a black-haired beauty

a face with no name?

Your hair, it looks longer

it covers your face

It seems so much darker, against the pillow case

A black-haired beauty

a face with no name.

You were drinking beer between cigarettes

And listening to Johnny Cash

There's a hole in the wall, there

beside the bedroom door

I wonder if hatred or love was at it's core

and is there a scar

to show from that war?

You told me you're waiting

I wondered what for

but I never asked, we just walked toward the door

I looked for a scar

to show from some war.

You were drinking beer between cigarettes

And listening to Johnny Cash

I thought I heard you cry last night

But I woke to find

the pillow dry

Only a wrinkle at the corner of your eye

You shift as you're sleeping

I look at that mane

I could drown in your hair, I could swim in your pain

A black-haired beauty

a face with no name.

You were drinking beer between cigarrettes

And listening to Johnny Cash

"I could swim in your pain..."
The singular line has much potential to rip every spirit of reader with its own loyalty... of love. What a beautiful poetry you damn digged. Seemed, you were writing such lyrical words since the eve. got ya hooked up with some ecstasy brought by some ecstatic love-moments.. holding glass of wine in hands; smoking real hard sitting on porch .. & just breathing the scents of winds after having some ... nocturnal nights with someone you bewitched with. Nice shot.
