I wrote this when my mother was in the hospital, and we all thought she was going to die.

You've always been there for me
You've always had a part in my life
And now, as your heartbeat slows
I tell you how much you've meant to me
I hope that this isn't how it ends
With you never more to help me deal
With the curves life throws me
As you lay in your hospital bed
Awaiting the doctors dreaded news
I pray and wish you were here
I live my life, acting as if nothing's wrong
And go about my daily chores, making all the pain
Closer and closer comes the day
When you'll be leaving me to go away
I bid you your final farewell
And watch, while the tears well
Good bye, I love you, so much to say
I hope you live another day
So that I can let you know
I don't want to see you go
But if God decides that it must be
Then I shall step back
And bid you farewell
Good bye I love you
This is the end, I know that someday
I'll see you again
