The Day the World Spoke in Anger

Bad weather!

        Turbulent day turned to horrid darkness

         As the atmosphere sensed something heartless

         Monstrous gray clouds angry and insane

         Overwhelmed sky poured torrential rain

         Brave sunshine now scared hidden cowardly  

         Mother Nature cried and groaned inwardly 

        Lightning like bright fireworks sizzled and flashed

        Explosion of thunder rumbled and crashed

        Southerly buster wind began to howl

        The world began to look ugly and foul

         Limbs faltered as trees lost their stability

         Storm raged on with no visibility

         Nature's appearance became destructive

         A tornado roared and was disruptive

         The world became sick and suicidal

         Or maybe it has reached homicidal

I was drawn to the title and like always my mind plays the what if game. Sometimes my mind keeps playing that game as I read. But a really good poem stills my mind and let's the writer's words lead me.

a well written descriptive poem kathy, i loved it.
i always feel sorry for the birds with chicks in nests, the adults & juveniles can fly away. the land animals often don't have many choices in getting away.
we've had floods in the state I live in with people & animals losing lives, many people are homeless now & renting is impossible with not enough houses available. people & also families are living in their cars.

That last couplet really packs a punch! But she knows not what she does. The Earth can only be what she is. What she has become. Interesting how almost all of us have a poem about the tornados. And as the storms become more powerful so will our words.

You've certainly described some of our increasingly bad weather. A tornado just ripped through this area, then traveled east and continued its destruction. Hopefully, there'll soon be enough warm, sunny days to help us forget.
