Standing Ready

 

On my own

I’m strong

and steady,

standing ready.

But, when she’s near

I’m engulfed by fear;

hands shake,

confidence breaks.

tongue stumbles,

I can’t find the words,

Embarrassed I just want to die.

Waited too long- once more she walked on by.
