Lessons Learned

Lessons Learned

A Poem by MCS

My friend is gone

he is dead

yet I speak to him

his reproach is mild

now we speak in new ways

he looks placid

I slumber along

my steps faulty

like an old woman

I drag myself around

his light is translucent

there are moments

when it caresses my face

with a pale golden glow

is it a reflection of the sun

I speak to him often

his replies are in a foreign tongue

silently I listen

learning of love

and its silence

Relic, thank you
I’m beginning to learn that one is never the same after a great loss

Faith is powerful. Knowing someone who has passed is still with us can give us peace. I like your description of of the sun on your face and the question ? you ask. The last 3 lines are lessons that are moving. Excellent poem.
