Essence in Scarlet

I need something alive

too much death

around me lately

 

soft scarlet petals

reminding me of cups

nature’s perfection

 

vibrant with vitality

evenly cut and tied

fresh natural scent

 

sitting in a crystal vase

filled with clear water

refracting light

 

speaking to me of life

I feel compelled

to immortalize them

 

a photograph

will not do

it’s not enough

 

through pigment and water

we exchange essences

for a moment, we are one
