A Portrait

A Poem by MCS
"

Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new. ~ Brian Tracy

"

I’m here now

wondering why I come

Not overly fond

of this life drawing class

Dislike working out in the open

with prying eyes upon me

Somehow this level of discomfort

forces me to shed layers that get in my way

Today’s subject holds my interest

her eyes speak volumes

Yet she has this look

that her voice is smothered

Her eyes find mine and look away

she’s found that I too, am voiceless

She stands in the arena

as the rest of us hide behind easels

She seems freer

she’s shed her layers

As we draw lines

that separates us even further

How does it feel to be talented in every way!? Should I admire these pictures or your excellent writing?? You've put me in a difficult position! Wow! The ending of the poem is very striking. The idea of finding yourself in your own creations and moving away from them is truly beautiful. It made me wonder if there is a God, does he feel the same about us? I loved how you showed each episode with the drawing. I am now an invisible part of your art.

Behind easels stands the artist ready to draw behind this barricade.
On the other side, standing freely is the subject ready to be drawn and having another reality on paper.
When the final image is drawn, fear is gone, beauty is achieved.
