One

One

A Poem by MCS

Odd how one can welcome being alone

And not feel the slightest bit of loneliness

When weaving words or wheeling a paintbrush

Creating snapshots of life

These snips always offer up a sense of connection

Leaving footprints throughout the workspace

Creating offers one an option to connect

To the unseen realm, a sacred space

A haven that artists seek hoping to flow and create

That often proves difficult in the hustle and bustle of everyday life

The written words get stored in leather bond notebooks

The paint spread on canvas or paper and stored

Both tell a story that gives the creator the opportunity to make sense of life in these odd times

maybe that's why we have been friends for more than 50 years and more
many years back i learned for me solitude begins with solitary

hang in there friend ... WE are mostly ok THEY are just screwed up thru and thru that demands time taken rather than shared or given

I've always found solitude to be most beneficial whenever I write. I think being alone stirs the muse, like a spoon to a pot of soup. You always give your reader so much to admire, Mary. So much!

I like it. I think the writing is, quite frankly, one of the few things that makes alone not all that lonely. I feel like I am sharing long before anyone even gets to see the few things that get posted online. Good writing. ~Jim

I really enjoyed this poem. It gently shows how being alone can actually feel comforting when you're creating something. The way you talk about writing and painting as ways to connect with a deeper world is very moving.... It’s like a quiet reminder that art helps us feel understood, even when no one is around. The poem feels peaceful and true like a soft moment of reflection many people can relate to. Thanks for the wonderful write.

I read it with a slight smile on my face :').
These words are so true and so valuable, because it's important to remember directly what we do here and why. It's absolutely impossible for a person to feel alone amidst art. And your artistic personality has brought this poem to life with such beautiful fullness of love, and friendship, and the other things people can't give... Woah! A true artist!
