ShameA Poem by MCSShame, like beauty, is often in the eye of the beholder. ~ Julie Burchill![]() Hearts
black as pitch Cold
as tundra ice Closed
to reason Who
will bear the blame Shame
on all who defend this madness Respect
has died And
decency lies buried beside it The
one percent stands accused They
take more than they give Bound
to no nation Loyal
only to profit While
the poor and the working poor Struggle
to survive Forced
to hang their heads in shame Always
left behind like refuse Barely
living as the morsels dwindle Unseen Used Discarded Toiling
in dead-end, menial jobs Looked
down upon Their
only sin Being
the working poor Elected
bodies squeeze them dry Bleeding
them for every last drop How
much more can they lose Healthcare
slips away The
clock ticks louder Poverty
will finish what policy began When
is enough, enough
