A Warrior’s LamentA Poem by MCSThe flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all. ~ Fa Zhou, Mulan
In a
world where battles never cease I’ve
forged my armour, begged for peace Once a
heart of fire, fierce and bold, Now
weariness grips me in its hold This
restless mind whispers the darkest fears Each
wound, once brave, now marked by tears I’ve
weathered storms no soul should bear Yet
deep within, a longing flares For
quiet moments, for gentle grace For
freedom from this endless chase I’m
tired of standing, braving the tide Of
burdens that crush from every side The
fight grows heavy, my spirit worn thin In
dusk’s soft silence, I break within I pray
for stillness, release from strife For
peace to cradle this weary life No
clash of swords, no cries of pain Just
tender arms to soothe the strain I
dream of a haven, tranquil and true Where
skies stay calm and sorrows few To
shed this armour, to breathe, to mend To
feel the calm where battles end So
here I stand, soul laid bare A
warrior’s moan in twilight air Let me
retreat, let my heart be free To find, at last, serenity
