By a lie, a man... annihilates his dignity as a man.

 

Floating this lead balloon

Will take a masterclass in doublespeak

And tap-dancing fit for Broadway

A lie this grand deserves the big screen

But even Hollywood might pass

It won’t sell

Not this time

And when the can of worms bursts open

It might just script his downfall

(you can finish that last sentence on your own, because the Trumpet likes visiting Scotland to play with his balls (golf balls of course) and id hate to be woken of a morn by the world's angriest looking oompa loompa! 😃

The can of worms here speaks to me of wrong doing. If it blows open and is proven then the punishment should fit the crime. Too many politicians these days seem to have a question mark over their character. Topical piece dear Mary. Hope all is well with you.

At first I must apologize for my absence for the past few weeks. I have had server problems that would not let me post or respond. Today is the first day I was allowed to do so and I will strive to catch up if I can continue to access the site. This poem can be taken many ways as is the case with all good poems. It could well be a political statement given the times, or may speak of one's own life. Never the less it does speak of double standards acceptable or not that are sometimes sold and bought and at others are not accepted. Nicely written it speaks to me

Nice write, depicting a downfall on Broadway.... Why? because of a lie..his character...you can't cheat and expect to win every time!!!! Love the words...very catchy!!!
