The thing is, EA had a game where possession meant something and playing well with it won you the game before their patch back before Christmas. I seriously never enjoyed playing FUT more than I did back then, then along came the AI defending patch and totally killed that skill gap to resort back to pace>possession.

I've pretty much retired from FUT this year because I lose game I dominate, whereas before that patch, domination meant domination and actually won games.

I just don't understand why AI defending was needed, it just eliminates the purpose of the tackle button. So stupid. If people can't learn how to play the game, don't give them the AI to play it.

One of the first patches around Christmas time definitely put AI defending in. Where before the patch, non controlled defenders wouldn't get Fifa 16 coins android, they would just sort of jockey, unless you dribbled it right into them, but after it programmed them to put in a tackle from a further distance.

I remember watching a video of a guy who played in the champions cup final and didn't even control any of his defenders and he won 3-0. This was the patch that killed skill runs and skill gaps because doing skills would just be cut out by stupid AI tackles with perfect timing.

They patched it in to stop the 'kick off glitch' of people speed dribbling it through the defence. When they should have just nerfed the speed dribble.

My possession stat averages 55 or 56%, am in D4 now but have been to D3 a couple times. Plenty of games are against high pressure, but there are possession players out there too. Sometimes I am able to control a match against the pace crazy teams, but when it goes wrong it usually goes wrong early.

Pressure always comes with risk and the spaces will be there. Learning to be decisive an opportunistic is the challenge.

Edit: Oh and I hate Sturridge, the ball just seems to go to him whenever he presses. I always try to pass around and over him, keep him out the game if possible.
