Darling

Darling

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

Darling

Darling, I love you but I'm going to leave you

I love you, but you just haven't a clue

I'm not just making a run to the store

I can't stand the sight of you anymore

Darling, I love you but I just got to go

You'll be revolted by me and I know

I hate seeing your pretty, little face

I hate you and I got to leave this place

I am leaving you with our baby boy

Tell him it's all my fault and not to ploy

I still love him but I can't stand your voice

I am not coming back, I made my choice.

Crying is going to do us any good

I couldn't stay with you even if I would

Darling, don't give me a reason to stay

I love you but I am running away
