A PUFFBALL MUSHROOM MORNING

A PUFFBALL MUSHROOM MORNING

A Poem by jeannemarie coulter
"

a morning of ambrosia in puffball form...

"

A PUFFBALL MUSHROOM MORNING

within the silver light of fog enshrouded morning
walking through our pastures and forest glen
with my dogs bouncing about checking the trails
left by fairies and other creatures
of the mist drift night,
i find these treasures in circles,
or bursting forth from the base of a tree,
looking like giant marshmallow pillows
for passing fairy folk...
i gather a few
leaving the others to spore for next year...
as the fog drifts back out to sea
i hurry home with glee
to wash,
to slice,
to saute,
in fresh churned butter
with fine cut green onions
three cloves crushed garlic,
oregano and salt and fresh ground pepper,
 a little white wine
slowly add cream
 and stir till simmering...
served with fresh hot rolls,
a repast fit for elf lords and ladies
that
i will enjoy under my gazebo
where morning glories and tiger lilies
dance in humming bird breezes,
while my canine pals
doze in sunlight patches of honey warm amber...
and if i should see you peeking
through the fence at me
you are welcome to come
share my puffball soup and hot rolls for free...

Love this. As a child I remember edible mushroom rings...I was always afraid to pick them ncase it was a fairy's home. Now the fairy rings are not edible unless you want a trip to another dimension. . Would love to share but truth isI made the saute just yesterday. Your home sounds beautiful JC, a small slice of paradise.

This was so cute! I find it funny because I absolutely hate eating mushrooms. I can't stand the texture for some reason. But if something is cooked in them I like the taste, and it smells pretty good too. There are so many different elements in here to love I have no idea where to begin...
A cookbook in a poetic form is honestly something I have never seen before, and I really enjoyed it! If more recipes where like this they would be much more fun to follow. Also, the fantasy take on this I adore because I'm a fantasy/elf nut.
Overall this was a great poem worthy of my favorites :)

We must savor the bounties that nature gives us for they are our first tastes of heaven.

A delectable write, rich in flavours from the description of strolling though pastures and forests to the reference to fairies on a fog-retreating morning... wish I was peeping through the fence now... I really admire your love of place... beautiful

This is a very fine blend of many things; nature, a hint of fantasy, awesome vocabulary, luscious imagery, and life in general. This seems like an extraordinary description of what many would love to do on a pleasant Spring afternoon, and if that is what you were going for, you've captured the atmosphere very well, with the content of your poem, the picture, and the font coloring and text format you used. To top it all off, you gave the poem its own distinctive identity with that truly unique title.

What else can I possibly say? 100/100.
