Ebony And IvoryA Poem by Riley BrayShadows don't discriminate.![]() Decades later I still feel the tension, Can feel eyes on my back And hear whispered contentions. I still smell anxiety The awkwardness in the air And I can't help but stand there defiantly. And I'm thinking, We ought to learn from the shades, Because shadows don't discriminate. Its as much this way as that In this era after racism, Harm was done and now we're stuck in combat. Battling still with our ancestors mistakes And confusion mingling with fading hatred for one another But still lingering nevertheless with outcomes grave. And I'm thinking, We ought to learn from the shades, Because shadows don't discriminate.
