Down On Earth

Down On Earth

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

If only I could force myself to believe in something I do not.

"
I would walk with you
There in midair
If it weren't for your secrets.
I would walk with you
There in prayer
If it weren't for your silence.

But because of you and your
Invisibility,
Unreliability,
And speechlessness,
I cannot embrace you.

Do you see me God,
Here on this lonesome earth?

For if you do,
I'd like to know,
Are you hugging me Lord?

Bah! I absolutely despise commenting on religious poetry (although you DO do a good job at portraying yourself) simply because I could never tell whether 'tis a plea or a stab at belief.
