Trace

Trace

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

I'll let you leave, if only you stay a short while longer.

"
For now I'll gather up the moonlight
And illuminate your day.
For now I'll gather up the fireflies
To dance like flaming stars up in the sky.

I will relieve you of your inhibitions,
Instead filling you with beauty.
And I'll wipe away your sins
Instead of letting them bring you down.

In return I ask only your forgiveness,
And a tiny little speck of stardust
So that I may remember you,
And under those conditions,
I'll let you leave forever,
And be gone without a trace.

I was watching Friends, an old TV show from the late nineties and Rachel and Ross had a touching moment, from which I got this, however abstract it may seem. (Though I think its rather straightforward).

Ah, the need to balance out the relationship, and have everything be, at the very least, just okay for when they go. I've never watched Friends save for very few episodes, but I can imagine it reflects the show well.
