Glass

Glass

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

Cage

"
I look from the outside in,
Through a mirror
Revealing people as they are below the skin.

As voices rise with heartfelt ire,
Jaws begin to slack,
Spitting words that set people on fire.

Such words that whisper to me, much like the kiss of death,
Which seek out mouth-watering secrets, stories, truths and untruths,
To sustain blithering wanderers and keep the strangers at rest.

But on the outside of the cage of glass,
I am strong, peaceful, free and safe,
Unlike the others scouring along on the road to the past.
