Shave

Shave

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

9/24/14

"

It has sought me out,

The razor,

Now lying scornfully in its tray

It glimmers a murderous amount,

Calling out for me to use it.

A customer,

On to one’s best behavior of course,

Conduct comes first

After all

A little off the top?

Sure, why not?

A little off the bottom, too,

Couldn’t hurt, I promise.

But it spent the time to seek me out,

The razor,

Now sitting restlessly in my palm,

Shining with an insatiable luster,

Ordering me to use it.

So, I obey.

Sweeney Todd has nothing on me

No barbers pie could ever hold a candle

To my masterpieces.

A little off the top?

Sure, why not?

A little off the bottom, too,

Couldn’t hurt,

Promise.
