Disgrace

Disgrace

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

11/19/14

"
Rejection, red faces,
Eyes lowered in shame
For the lives that they've ruined

Perfection, pristine gestures
Chin raised with the pride
Of successful ventures

But below a golden mask
Hides a human so gruesome
That it must be sheltered

Deception, cape of beauty
You're pulling the strings
Like a puppet master

We're marching
Like soldiers
To the beat of the drum
Of the matriarchy.

Flee,
Abandon me,
You'll find fear masked by wisdom
Running from responsibility

I give myself to you
I'll commit to you
Because of my lies

Price of freedom
Rejection, perfection
Deception, disgrace
