Beauty In the Beast

Beauty In the Beast

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

12/19/14

"
I look into your eyes
And they engulf me
They tap into my mind
Like a baby's foot
In its mother's womb

That piercing
Fearless gaze
Knocks my fearful fists
Back to my sides
As the lights dim and flicker
At the corners of my eyes

I reach to touch your hands
And they warm me
They cover me
In the same way
The night blankets the day

Those calloused,
Tired palms
Graze mine harder ad rougher
As the skin rips
And the warm blood spills

Bruised,
My body fights
But my heart still believes
It needs you

Here, I am alone

Here, I am afraid

I'm afraid of your anger
That which are etched
Deep into the lines on your hands
And hides in the back of your eyes

Would you kiss me again
If I touched your lips?
Will you love me again
If I submit?

I lay in wait
Knocked up
Between your calloused hands
Thinking of your once kind eyes
