A Sonnet for the Pained BraveA Poem by Jem Sagcal
Sheltered heart of a young bovine,
Confused mind, its veins intertwined. Tears caress that tortured skin, Speak, the wounds, its scars like twins. The angry hatred, the twists of fate, Shattered the young, the fair intimate. Tall shadows stand in the dark, between, Bloodshot eyes, a stench of benzedrine. Thunder beats the shaken roar, Shrieks torment, that secret woe. The sound fades, the sung silence, Seek the prayer, her true defiance. Announce her strength, untangle hope, The courageous, the fear to cope.
