written for the WORD contest - my word was want............

WANT

 

 

 

Overheard in a supermarket

 

"Can I have it Mum?"

 

 

 

"No, not today dear"

 

"But I want it Mum!

 

 

 

"I said no, not today ."

 

"But muummm, I really want it I really really want that block of chocolate."

 

 

 

"Sorry, this one is mine, and you have already eaten yours."

 

"But I really want this one, can I have it - I WANT THIS one mum!"

 

 

 

"NO! I said NO, and I mean it! Now shut up with your - I Want IT rubbish, before I give you something you don’t want!"

This one brought a smile to my face...whats amazing, is I have these arguements with myself...I don't need my children to be present. I'm the one screaming for the chocolate, and then I'm telling myself NO!!!! LOL. Thank you for the smile. :D

the world is growing self centered and selfish...i thought at first while reading it. after finishing the whole poem, i think it is about more than our dailly economy and simple lust and resistance but, about an eternal slip between what we get and what we want. god, this is open to more interpretation
