vulnerability.

vulnerability.

A Poem by jenniewren (J.W. Bouwman)

why am i so
vulnerable
to love?

why does my heart beat so wildly
at the slightest touch of a name
upon lips that are long past kissing
long past being able to speak the syllables
i hold closest to my chest

i continually leap into the breach
bilndly trusting in arms to catch
the daring acrobat
yet always ending up with
my heart fluttering, redly open
heated blood spilling out over
a clay altar erected
to appease hungry gods
whose visage i've never known

though
there will forever be
a next time
and never
with regret

I like this one. It gives some insight about your perception of love. Life and love is about trial and error. You keep trying until you find the formula that works. This piece tells me you recognize that and enjoy the ride regardless of the outcome. Live every day.

I love this so, so much. I am stunned at what a beautiful piece of poetry this is, and can't believe I missed it until now....this is painfully gorgeous...

I really loved this. The visuals and the analogies were really great. I think the reason people keep falling in love, even after they've had horrible experiences, is because something spiritual in them, something inexpressible, knows that there will come one who was worth all of the searching. I've got my doubts on that. But regardless of my inhibitions, that bizarre gypsy spirit lurking somewhere behind and to the left of my heart insists such a creature as 'kismet' exists.

Excellent piece of art, this! Favorite line: 'To appease hungry gods whose visage I've never known.'

Jennie, I could have written every word of this, not as beautifully, but nevertheless these sentiments know the corridors of my heart all too well.

Why are we? I don't know, how much time do you have? :)

Basically it just comes down to, that's just the way I've always been.

And you know what? I'm kind of glad I am.

Love this.

i really dig how your mind moves so fluently, no stagger or trips, one long breathe, you write like dylan sings, gotta be a buddha of meditative breath to hold on to your wild ride...i also agree with what your saying, being open to experiance, unafraid..very brave.

Each word reads a different path in this map, a poetic treasure, free-flown, expressive, wonderful!
