i took my last gulp of tea 

contained within 

a single moth, 

having reenacted 

the death of the dodo 

i can still feel 

the papery wing 

disintegrating like wet newsprint 

against the back of my teeth 

even though i've brushed them twice 

perhaps i should make it 

three 

third time's the charm
