Mother calls me her
lovely error,
daddy’s surprise,
a wink in the dark.

Today I stood
in the gardening aisle
of Home Depot
and watched a bird
confuse ceiling
for sky.

There are other ways
to celebrate.

Wow! Absolutely amazing use of language and imagery to convey your deepest aspiration, simply to be free. I wouldn't change a thing with this. Your profundity reminds me of Emily Dickinson....
