Snow DayA Poem by JeffIntrospective look back at my childhood
Speckles of sugar rest on my sill The little one, second to the right On the thick, oak front door the previous owner's kid scratched With his bike while attempting the Johnny Crash Test Trick. I told her this morning It was going to snow, but she didn't believe me. It isn't often that I am right. I spied carefully through our back window of the house we just purchased. It was forest green, her favorite color. Mine is blue, but I always will have the sky and water for me. As I looked, I watched the Stevenson's kids make their first angel in the new fallen snow. It was only fifteen years ago I was doing the same. Oh my, fifteen years ago... Looking down at my watch, a present from my fiancée’s parents, I saw I was going to be late for work. This day I didn't real care though. It was snowing out And that means it's a snow day for me. I wonder if the Stevenson's kids need help with that snowman... © 2008 Jeff |
